The challenge
A structure for an LED screen that can be shaped and fixed to any kind of cylindrical surface that must be as shallow as possible.
The solution
I was asked to design a structure that could be bent and frozen having almost no depth. I didn’t believe it could be achieved, until I searched for inspiration in the bi-metal bar. I managed to translate this electric device into a mechanical version and I patented it. Changing the radius and fixing it was now possible in only one action.
Bend & freeze a structure in only one action
I also designed hands-free connections for the structure because the user should be able to have his hands available to lift the product when connecting to another module. The performing and safe connection (according to DIN standards for stages and events) is able to support a load of 2.5 metric tons!
